Tough Start To Season

U16's Round One Match Report

U16's Match Report

On Friday 24th our U/16s played their first game of the season against

Sandgate. In what was to be a huge test against the highest level the boys

were excited by the challenge.

The boys started the game hesitantly and Sandgate made the most of it

scoring the first few goals. Through hard work we were able to get one back.

The boys then let some great opportunities to score easy goals by not taking

the ball cleanly and fumbling. At quarter time the boys trailed by 4 goals.

The second quarter was much the same with Sandgate pouring the pressure on

and putting on the scoreboard. The contest was hard and physical and by half

time we had no bench left and a 9 goal deficit. It what was now even more of

a challenge with no rotations left the boys went out and allows a few easy

goals through. To their credit they knuckled down and competed hard at the

contest, but our turnovers were being punished and Sandgate went into 3/4

time , 14 goals up. At 3/4 time we had another 5 boys injured but continues

to soldier on due to no one to change with. The boys fought the game out

hard and gave their all but were clearly outclassed by a talented division 1

side. Final scores were Sandgate 18.17.125 defeated Redcliffe 1.2.8. We now

have the week off to get ourselves ready for the next challenge.
