On Sunday our Redcliffe Tigers U/14's had a big game against Morningside who pushed us to within a goal last time we met. We went into the game without one of our vice-captains and to top that off Morningside had 10 boys who had played in their division one side during the season. A loss would of sent out a reality check or a win would send out a statement to the rest of the sides.

From the outset the contest was tight with both sides competing well and both using their hands well to move the ball, but it was our boys who broke through with the first goal due to great ball movement. Morningside responded well and due to sloppy manning up in defence they had a couple of shots at goal, but lucky for our boys, we were let off as they missed both. We them missed a few opportunities and Morningside made us pay scoring a late goal. At 1/4 time it was Redcliffe 1.3.9 to Morningside 1.2.8.

Our boys started the 2nd quarter well working well in tight contests but Morningside defended well and then put us under pressure. We struggled to get it in our half for 5 minutes and again Morningside let us off the hook by only managing 3 behinds. Credit to our boys they continued to work hard and made the opposition pay by putting through 2 quick goals and we went into half time leading 3.4.27 to 1.5.11.

The half time message was to keep working hard and to not become complacent. From the start of the 3rd term our boys tackled hard, ran hard and were clearly putting their stamp on the game and kicked 3 goals to nil for the term and led 6.4.40 to 1.8.14 at 3/4 time.

The last term was outstanding and absolutely dominated the term with great team work all over the ground, we led hard for leads worked in numbers, pressured them hard and it was now showing on the scoreboard. The boys finally ran out comfortable winners 10.7.67 to 1.11.17.

GREAT EFFORT BOYS.... keep up the good work COACH
