U12's Round One Match Report

U12s Match Report.

Firstly today, I want to thank our volunteers. Andrea puts all the jobs out every week and there's no fuss, everyone plays their part, the same as I expect on field from the boys.

I also want to say congratulations to Billy Saggers for being voted team captain 2015. He will be ably assisted by Harry as his vice and Byron and Bailey as deputy's.

To the game. I think we were a little disorganised pre game but a quick chat re positions and plans as well as a minutes silence to show our respects to the ANZAC's and it was game on.

Tough, blowy conditions today. The breeze really didn't favour either end but was always going to make it a scrappy affair.

The first came and went in a pretty tight affair. I thought we had the majority of play but lacked hardness and composure. At the first break I was confident we'd open them up in the second and we did. The boys worked hard to get numbers to the ball. Our intensity increased and we were rewarded on the scoreboard. We rely heavily on midfield clearances but the opposition were taking advantage of our taps to clear it from the stoppages.

At the main break I think we led by 4 goals. Although I thought we had control of the game our missed tackles, lack of talk and non existent shepparding was keeping the opposition in the game. I asked the boys to lift in these areas and they'd get reward by a larger lead at 3/4 time and we executed. The last was scrappy going goal for goal. Both teams snatched lucky goals but in the end the Tigers were victorious by around 6 goals against good opposition.

Well done to all concerned. Not sure who our opposition is next game but watch this space. Cheers CC
