Hi Tigers one and all,

Firstly, I'd like to wish all the Mum's a Happy Mother's Day, hopefully the early start was worth it to see your son and his team mates enjoying a game of footy in Northern NSW.

Secondly, thanks to Calamvale for hosting us and making us feel welcome at their home ground.

Another good effort by the Under 12's today. The coaching team mixed things up a bit positionally today. Some of the boys played in unfamiliar territory and adapted very well. Before the game I asked for a real effort in the area of pressure on the ball carrier and also to cherish possession, no silly turn overs was the order of the day. We come out of the blocks firing and everything seemed to be going to plan. Defence was solid when the ball went down back but our drive seemed to be coming from the centre line and half forwards giving our full forward line plenty of opportunities to score majors. About a 3 goal lead, happy coach.

At the first break I reiterated the need to apply pressure and keep possession. We rotated players and still managed to play our brand, some good linking handballs, shepherding, great tackles and hitting forward targets helped the Tigers to a 4-5 goal lead at the main break, coach still happy.

I disliked half time as a player and as a coach it's no different. We seem to lose momentum for some reason (something for me to work on). I asked the team to keep the opposition scoreless and bang on a few majors to seal the game by ¾ time. We never lost control of the game thanks to our backline being solid, hard running from the mids and our forward pressure when the ball went to ground was encouraging. Unfortunately there wasn't too much change to the scoreline at the last break but the opposition were limited with scoring opportunities thanks to a great team effort, 6-7 goal lead, coach still ok.

The last qtr saw us take our foot the off the pedal. We seemed to be just going through the motions and doing what had to be done to get to the end of the game. The opposition scored 2 or 3 goals in the last after breaking our defensive lines. This was more than they scored for the whole game but credit to Calamvale who never gave up trying. We need to stay focused for 4 qtrs regardless of the scoreline or opposition. Something to think about for everyone as we head to next weeks game.

Thank you again to our wonderful parent volunteers, you make the coaches job so much easier with your support.

Except those with representative duties I expect everyone to make training both nights. Lets continue to gather momentum and build on what's been a great start to the season.

Training venues will be advised as we are told of the condition of our home ground, watch this space and emails for updates

Have a good week.
