U12's March Back Into Top 4 After Solid Win Over Narangba

It was another perfect day for footy. Tigers v Narangba at home. lt was also the last home game for the year. An important game, a win and results going our way would put us back in the 4. The boys were pretty pumped in the rooms before the game. We had a good week on the track and looked ready to play. A big focus over the last few weeks was to play out 4 quarters and to give ourselves every chance of a win and this game was no different.

The first started awesome within the first few minutes CJ swung on his left and slotted the first. Just the start we needed. The Tigers looked hungry this week the talk was up and team work was on and as a results the Tigers scored another goal thanks to CJ who casually slotted his second for the quarter. The pressure was good, disposals were hitting targets the boys just looked different, playing the brand of footy that's required to win .CJ was having a great start to the game kicking his third for the quarter and giving the Tigers a 3.1 to 1 goal lead at quarter time. A great job by the midfield delivering plenty of inside 50's which enabled the forwards lots of opportunity. After pats on the back to everyone at quarter time the message was to keep working and not change the way we are playing. For the first time in weeks the talk was back and what a difference it makes.

The second began with the Tigers continuing on with their dominance of the game with numbers around the ball supporting team mates lots of talk which helped reduce the turn overs that have hurt us in past games, therefore maintaining possession. The defenders as they have been all year were rock solid attacking the footy and clearing any sort of charge Narangba had. The Tigers kicked 2.1 to Narangba's 1 goal to extend our lead to 20 points 5.2 to 2.0 going into half time break.

The chat in the rooms was loud the boys were feeling good ,but we still had to stay focused, there was still a half of footy left and complacency has bit us hard in past games. Players who have been quiet were getting hands on the footy and having an input into the game which will help with their confidence. Again the message was to keep going with the pressure, talk, tackling and to not give up. After a hurry up from the umpire the boys headed out for battle again knowing a win would give us a chance.

The third quarter was a lot closer with both teams giving everything. Redcliffe always looked to have control of the game, but they were made to work for it. With the Tigers having a number of inside 50's and continuing to put pressure on the defenders the Tigers kicked 1.2 for the quarter and kept Narangba scoreless which was a great effort we just needed our forwards to convert a couple of gettable shots to really put some scoreboard pressure on. At 3 quarter time the score was 6.4.40 to 2.0.12.to giving us a 28 point lead.

It was important we continued playing the way we were in the last quarter as we have been ordinary of late. That was the main message, but after looking in their eyes l could tell they were going to finish the job. And that's exactly what the Tigers did. Playing out 4 quarters with great pressure, tackling, and plenty of talk which was very pleasing. And to see players who have been quiet in recent weeks get involved and contribute was also very pleasing. Final score was 7.5.47 to 2.0.12. And again the defenders doing a mighty job keeping Narangba scoreless for 3 quarters, outstanding boys.

After a 35 point win and 5 goals to CJ in a great goal kicking display the boys sang the song nice and loud and it was great to see. It was a good reward for the perseverance and hard work the boys have put in these last few weeks. With Alex Hills beating Wynnum we now move back into the 4. Another win in our last game would see us play finals. We have Alex Hills away on Sunday and it is sure to be a super tough game, with the Tigers having a win in the first round at home Alex will be looking for payback and have been in good form. The Tigers will be ready and know what is required. Our best football will beat anyone and that's the challenge. Win the game and we don't have to rely on results to go our way. Great team effort boys well done and bring on Alex Hills.
