Seniors/Reserves Report

In hot conditions again, the Tigers reserves began the round 2 clash against Carrara. In a willing first quarter there wasn’t much separating the two sides. The tigers went in at the first break 2 points in front. The second quarter was again physical and Carrara were working well in defence repelling most of our forward entries. The tigers still managed 4 goals to 2 to give a bit more breathing space at half time however, With 2 injuries in the first half it was important to start the third well as the lack of rotations would prove tough going. The prescription was filled with an 8 goal quarter seeing the game break open. To Carrara’s credit they continued to run hard and won the last quarter, however the Tigers reserves still finished with a 50 point win. Bickerton and Parkes were strong in the ruck all day and provided targets up forward. Hendry and Slatter did a lot of work and Wilkinson roved the forward line capitalising with 3 goals. Armagos, Miller, Wilson and Cronin were also big contributors.

The seniors kicked off at 2 pm and with 7 shots on goal to 2 in the first quarter the Tigers should have held a larger lead at the break. Kicking another 5 in the second the lead was extended to 36 at half time. Carrara rallied and controlled their ball use better in the third and for the most part had the quarter on their terms. The last quarter saw Redcliffe kick away again although the margin didn’t do justice to Carrara on the day. Kingdon, Mcinnis and Niven slotted 3 each. Armour was rock solid again and Foley’s influence on the game was noticed all day. Nicholson-Bliesner, Quarrel, Spring and Spencer beat their opponents and Lynne lead the way from start to finish.

Next week we take on old rivals Beenleigh which is sure to be another tough contest. In another Home game the Reserves kick off at 11:45 and the seniors at 2pm. A big thanks to all the volunteers and the crowd was fantastic all day supporting the junior games and Masters as well.
