Best: Braeden Cester, Corbin Dickfos, Alan Dunbier, Trent Ely, Keenan Madden, Zac Van Haaften, Tommy Burns.
Congratulations to Keenan Madden & Tommy Burns on celebrating their "100th" game for the Mighty Tigers. Well done Boys.....
Also, Congratulations to Zac Van Haaften on playing his 50th game for the Tigers. Well done Zac.
The Tigers U/14's were at home to take on Ferny Grove and hopefully end the season on high note. Special significance on the day were 100 games to both Keenan Madden and Tom Burns, as well 50 games to Zac Van Haaften.
The Tigers started brightly with good work from onballers and the centreline, as did Ferny Grove who registered the first goal. Corbin Dickfos returned the compliment for the Tigers and was setting the example for others. Ferny goaled twice more for the quarter but once again Corbin Dickfos goaled just before quater time to leave the Tigers 6 points down.
The second quarter saw Ferny Grove tighten their grip on the game with some good ball movement through the corridor. The Tigers were struggling to man up with some of their runners and were paying the price. Trent Ely and Braeden Cester were playing well and Zac O'Hea snagged a late goal though to keep the Tigers in touch at half time with Ferny Grove 12 points in front.
The third quarter saw Ferny Grove outgun the Tigers once again with good ball movement and better positioning in attack. The Tigers were trying hard but couldn't capitalise on their work and were kept goaless for the term. Alan Dunbier was providing great resistence in the backline but the game was slipping away at three quarter time with F.Grove ahead by 38 points.
The team was asked for an extra effort in last quarter and to finish off to the best of their ability. A solitary goal from Keenan Madden after some great second efforts typified the team's hard work especially in the second half of the season. In the end though Ferny Grove were just the better team on the day and ran out worthy 46 point winners.
Well done to the team for their efforts throughout the year, especially the last month where they were able to post two wins. It has certainly been a great learning curve for both players and coaches.
Thanks to all the parents who helped out during the year, please keep supporting your kids. And a special mention to Bill Nielsen who has been a hard working Manager this season.
