A day when the weather was always going to turn this contest into a hard slog and the side who makes fewer mistakes and uses the ball better would normally prevail. That turned out to once again be the opposition Coorparoo.

Previous experience tells us we are capable of matching them in most departments but their tall men department worked harder than ours and was better drilled in certain areas.  The good start they had was enough for them and the two goals to nil quarter time lead was in fact the eventual winning margin.

A couple of times we thought that they were positioned to get away from us but to the credit of the team our fighting spirit was there for all to see and once again we kept getting up, dusting off and kept coming.  Luke Pittle once again showed his value to the team with a workman like performance on ball. When moved onto the ball Rosie provided us with some much needed competition against taller opposition and her development and learning over the last couple of months enabled her to negate the taller opponents by playing body on body ruck and she finished on top of them which gave our onballers a chance to set up differently. The conditions suited Jacko and he showed why he is known for being one of the most determined competitors we have. Peter Furness continued to work hard and quickly adapts to being moved around in various positions depending on the team requirements which is a real credit to him. Tylor Cester has been in fantastic form and continued that today and was instrumental in keeping us within touch of Coorparoo early in the game with his no nonsense straight running attack at the ball and was well supported in defence by Zac O who may be finally realizing that body contact is not that bad after all.

What is most important is that we continue to develop the work rate of the players who may not be as gifted as some of their teammates and at times who experience less game time because of their reluctance to compete or inability to perform consistently. The overall performance of the side was never going to be determined by what our best players do but by how much the others can contribute and that is what has created that inconsistency during a match. We are and will continue to work on that with those that are committed to learning and doing the right thing. You can easily tell who the dedicated are.

A special thanks to my beautiful manager Jodie for arranging our cake stall today and to all of you wonderful parents who made contributions to the day and helped out it was a fantastic day regardless of the weather and I know I certainly bought my fair share of goodies and I am sorry boys but you 14's are going to help me run it off this week.

Thanks to Deb Dickfos for filling in on some of the manager duties to help Jodie out. Thanks to Storm, Geoff and all of our volunteers for your help in those cold wet conditions it was truly awesome.

Players, if you want the first week of the holidays off training then don't miss training this week.
