At the start of pre-season the coaching staff discussed who they thought would form the TEAM leadership group of the Tigers under 12s for season 2010. We decided to give as many players as we could the opportunity to either be captain or vice captain of the TEAM for the practice matches and grading games and from what we learnt we would pick our leaders.
Due to the way the players have all work so hard, learnt and built themselves into such a great unit, the coaching and management staff decided we had a group of kids that were mature and so respectful of each other they had earnt the right to have an input into their own leadership group. Over the last few weeks I had received nominations from each player on who they thought would best lead their side as captain and also who they thought would be suitable as part of their leadership group. The results of those nominations proved that the players are all thinking about their TEAM, they are also very switched on to their TEAMMATES capabilities and respectfull of their abilities. The tally of the players nominations almost identically matched with how the coaches would have picked it themselves. As the Coach and as a parent that gives me great confidence in and makes me very proud of the group of the kids we are working with.
At our TEAM meeting on Friday night I had great pleasure in announcing our leadership group, as nominated by the players and approved by the coaches and managers.

TEAM CAPTAIN – RYAN O’SHEA.
Ryan lives and breathes his footy. The way he goes about his business in games and at training is an inspiration to his TEAMMATES. He has been a loyal member of the Tigers juniors and has always stuck by his mates. Throughout the pre-season Ryan has been working on a number of leadership qualities whilst being amoungst his TEAMMATES and will continue to do so. Combining the honor of TEAM captain and his selection in the Sunshine Coast Regional side, Ryan has had a big week of Footy. Well done !!

VICE CAPTAINS – LACHLAN DEMKO & BRAIDYN FIELD
These two lads are very similar in the way they give direction and encouragement to their TEAMMATES. In being given this honor the coaches look forward to seeing them development other important leadership qualities that will now be expected of them. I have no doubt they will love that challenge.

TEAM LEADERS- CONNOR BLOSS, MARCUS LEWIS & CALLUM HILL
These three will thrive with the responsibility of being part of our leadership group. They bring a great mix of determination, physical and vocal presense, team spirit and great work ethic to our TEAM. Connor and Callum have been with our club over the past few years and rightly so, have earnt the respect of their TEAMMATES. Marcus is a new to the Tigers this year and has made a great impression not only on the coaches but obviously his new TEAMMATES.
Congratulations to all of you and I hope you enjoy these roles you have been honored with.
As far as I am concerned all our players are leaders and it will take every member of our TEAM to play their role and take the responsibility of the effort required to make sure we achieve the best results possible throughout the season. It cannot be left only to the leadership group to play games of footy. For our TEAM to have any type of success it will take all of our players to work hard as one complete unit!!
