Tigers head to Finals
Although the Redcliffe "Magic Meat" Tigers were taking on the bottom team on the ladder, the Tigers couldn't take this game lightly, knowing that this is Logan City's last game of the year, and they will be throwing anything at the current ladder leaders. The game started as quite a scrappy affair, as both teams settled into the game. It was the Tigers who struck first with a mark and goal from Steve Jenkins, before Logan answered with their 1st goal of the game only 2 minutes later. The next 15 minutes of footy only saw 2 goals kicked until the 20 minute mark, then the Tigers pounced, kicking 7 goals in time on, to take a commanding 34 point lead into the 1st change. Josh Bond kicked 3 majors in the dying minutes of the quarter, while Kieran Ashby & Joel Ralph slotted 2 apiece. There was to be no retrieve for Logan City in the 2nd quarter, as the Tigers slammed home 8 goals to Logan's 2 to put the game beyond doubt by halftime with Redcliffe leading 17.3.105 to 5.6.36. The Tigers started the 3rd quarter in the same vain and had already kicked 2 goals within the first 5 minutes before Logan City started to put up some resistance and slowed the Tigers scoring down. At 3 quarter time, Redcliffe led 22.6.138 to 6.10.46. The final quarter was all about Ricky "Bobby" Laughnan. Coach, Paul Albon sent Bobby to the forward line to finish the game with so goals, and he didn't disappoint, kicking 6 final term goals to make it 8 for the day. James Niven also chipped in with his 4th goal of the game while the Tigers completely over ran Logan City kicking 7 goals to 4 in the final quarter, and winning by 111 points. Josh Bond kicked 6 goals for the Tigers while Shaun Dowell, Kieran Ashby and Joel Ralph kicked 3 each. Steve Kennedy controlled the ruck contests all day, providing opportunities for his running players in Shane Ward, Shaun Dowell, Drew Argus and Andrew Kouvaras to pick up a mountain of possessions across the field. Aaron Richardson, Scott Davis and Tim Rhodes were solid in defence all day, containing Logan to only 10 goals for the match, in what were perfect conditions for footy. The Redcliffe "Magic Meat" Tigers have an accumulative winning margin over Logan City of 361 points from their 3 games played this year.
