Reserves Report:

With Beenleigh being undefeated on top of the ladder we knew our day would be a tough one, the team had changed a lot since Thursday night but we still put a solid squad on the paddock.

The sloppy conditions made the start of the game a bit scrappy with both backlines standing up to the challenge. Our backline lead by assistant coach Spring and Royine made sure that the 10 inside 50’s that Beenleigh had only resulted in one goal. Whereas our 6 inside 50’s resulted in 3 shots at goal and unfortunately none them going through the big sticks.

The second quarter allowed Scalpeli, in his first game for the year, to get into the game and kick a couple of goals and Forbes chipping in, snapping one over his shoulder meant the quarter would finish pretty even and we go into the sheds at half time only 3 points down.

After the break we came out a little sluggish and allowed the front running Buffalos to kick a couple of cheap ones, but with our midfield Hart, Spinks and Humphrey winning the ball out of the centre and this allowed Caddy and Scalpeli to kick one each which would keep us in touch at the start of the fourth.

Being 9 points down and having more scoring shots we knew this game was there for the taking, and we struck first. With the scores being close, the game heated up until it boiled over and there was a bit of a barney. Once the little scrap had finished the speed and intensity of the game picked up and the Buffalos seemed to handle it better than us as they ran forward to kick 3 unanswered goals and eventually take the win.

All in all we can say we really took it up to the undefeated top side, but at the end of the day it’s still a loss. There were also a lot of great individual efforts throughout the game such as Spring and Hart playing their best games this year, and Spencer doing a job all day and the big J.T taking some solid marks all over the ground. So I hope we all learn from this game and hit the track on Tuesday so we can get back on our winning way.
