Magoo's Move Into 2nd Semi Final

From the moment we hit the ground you could see and feel the energy within the playing group. The intensity within the team grew from there to the first bounce. Whilst Beenleigh drew first blood our back six had them fighting for every possession. At every opportunity the ball was repelled back towards our forwards predominately through Chris Haesler, Brad Rohde and Jason Burgoyne who were on their way to the best game I have seen them play this year.

Our engine room while not off to the best start were still very competitive and it did not take them long to gain momentum and start taking a commanding role lead by our more experienced Scott Wilkie, Peter Leijen and Alex Wagner. Last but by no means least is our starting ruck man Craig Bickerton who for a first year ruckman has come along in leaps and bounds and his effort from the beginning of the game was a clear indicator of this.

The forward line has been working well of late also got off to a sluggish start but it did not take long for our key forwards to start holding their grabs and kicking their goals. With a special mention to Chris Anderson who at this stage is a firm favourite for mark of the year. Whilst the two Spinks boys played a sensational role as crumbers from the very start it was clear that Jason Apps and Craig Laycock were going to dominate.

The second quarter the enthusiasm within the group was still evident even though we did have poor kicking at goal quarter snagging only 2 majors and 6 behinds. It was from the start of this quarter that our very passionate and vocal supporter group were out in full voice and force and toward the end of the quarter when the players were tiring our cheer squad remained as loud and vocal as possible which in turn helped lift the team which managed to help the team keep Beenleigh to only 2 goals 3 behinds. This took us into the long break with a narrow three point lead.

Third quarter brought frustration for some and an opportunity to shine for others. Sheer determination by all of the 21 players that were left available to our side lifted during the course of the quarter. Despite Beenleigh having the advantage in the first half of the quarter we held our own and were still able to go forward with numerous attacking plays ourselves. To end the quarter an obvious team lifting torpedo punt goal from our resident grandpa Scott Wilkie to us to the third break with the slenderest of leads.

The last quarter began and ended the same way with every player producing something special for the team when it was their time to stand up and be counted. Six early unanswered goals sealed Beenleigh's fate. With the fight being visibly drained from them with every goal. To their credit they didn't entirely give up but we were dominating right across the park to which they had no answer. this win books us a date with league leaders Robina which will be another hard fought game that we must prepare properly for. See you ALL at training on Tuesday. A special thankyou to all of our helpers and again our cheer squad hope to see you all at the Robina game next week.
