On paper our clash with Calamvale appeared to be an even battle with both teams having similar results over the earlier rounds. The Tigers welcomed in Adam "Patto" Patterson for his 1st game, Grant Heath for his first game in 2010, and the man who must have the fountain of youth in his backyard, 57yo Bob Templeman.
The game plan for the day was simple, keep the forward line open and get the ball in quickly and efficiently because this was the area of the ground where we have struggled so far. The Tigers followed the plan perfectly and by quarter time had scored 4 goals whilst at the same time the backline linked together perfectly and kept the home side scoreless. One quarter doesn't win games but it was a promising start.
In the 2nd term it was out turn to push into the breeze and although the tigers were displaying better skills than the opposition, the forward line was closing up and we didn't give ourselves the opportunity to shoot on goal from the corridor, however at half time we still had a 2 goal lead. Frankie was giving a sterling performance at full back, the half back line were rebounding and linking well with the midfielders and the veterans Rawlo and Bobby T were showing the younger brigade a thing or two.
Unfortunately for the Tigers there are 2 halfs to a game of football...and we didn't turn up for the second half..1 point in 40 minutes says it all.
Thanks to those people who helped out with the volunteer duties and also to Rawlo who put his body on the line and copped a couple of cracked ribs for his trouble.
