The call went out for the masters, after struggling for numbers at training over the last few weeks, we needed players and thankfully numbers did show. Great effort all...
The game started as you would think with both sides being really old; the spider webs were twice as thick and took a long while to clear. The newbie, Dowelly was winning clear ball down to the forward line, but the opposition pressure was fierce. At the first change the Tiger's were up, but only just kicking with a strong breeze.
The second quarter the Tiger's had to be dour, and try to limit the Moorooka's opportunity's with wind, Scotty took up battle with a pretty handy full forward this was going to be a tough battle. Anthony Ryan was scrapping in the center and was giving the opposition something to think about, and Poppy was driving under every contest when the ball hit the ground in the back line. The damage at the major change was two goals; Moorooka had a lead of one.
The third Quarter had to be when the Redcliffe masters made their move, but would they.
Moorooka also knew the importance of this quarter and they dictated terms to the Tigers who failed to trouble the scorer's with a major, Shane continued Rucking his heart out and Bobby T tried to give options from half forward, but no goals came and things were looking bleak. Moorooka now had a lead of two majors.
The last quarter didn’t start any better as Moorooka looked to build on its dominance and started with the first goal, Redcliffe could have been forgiven if they dropped their heads, not this team though, Abe Hatsoftoya started to control the air in the back line and Paul Duffy found his legs, linked well with Jason Latimer, to DJ and he slotted one. Moorooka's lead back to two. Dowelly got on the end of some hard running by Grant who had moved into the forward line and he finished truly, Moorooka's lead back to five points. Minutes left Peter Phelan strangled the ball out to Deano, and a quick flick to Jason Latimer the ball made its way out to Grant, he held of two opposition players and got the ball over to Shaun Dowell (what the bloody hell is he doing resting in the forward line) he ran in and with all of his remaining strength, he bounced one through from about forty, abblely shepherded through by Moose. One point up, just had to hold off in the center, but as the ball got there the siren blew.
Great game Tiger’s. Goes to show that the game is never over.
The team was well served by Shaun Dowell, Paul Duffy, Dean Milstead, Anthony Ryan and Gary Ide.
The team would also like to Thank Shane and Cohan Ward for doing the scoreboard (probably gave the old guy's motivation)
One would assume that the next game will be away and we will definitely need more players, so if you know someone or you are someone, come down and have some fun.
