Redcliffe took on Kedron at Rothwell Park on Sunday 14th June. Redcliffe had lost its past two games and were looking to reverse the form slump against Kedron.
Tags, Ash, Dario and Darryl all returned from either injury or availability. Tags and Ash had an immediate impact providing Tom and Rooster with greater options and run through the middle. The first quarter saw Redcliffe get the jump on Kedron and take a 5 goal lead at the first break with Kedron not troubling the scoreboard. Bobby T was presenting well up forward, Grant Heath was moving well and Steve Brown was also getting busy up forward. The backline was holding firm and rebounding well to provide plenty of run and options down the ground. Ian Brown and Robbo were dominating on both wings with Robbo's tackling a highlight for Redcliffe in the first half.
Tags had helped out Kedron by playing for them in the second quarter and enjoyed a "friendly battle" with Ash in the middle and certainly taking the award for the greatest dive of the game........even earning a down field free kick.
Even Tags couldn't make a difference though as Redcliffe continued to pump the ball forward and provide Bobby T, Steve Brown and Grant Heath with plenty of quality delivery.
Redcliffe's answer to the Krackour brothers "The Ranga Twins" (Steve Brown and Ash Humphrey) had the ball on a string in the third quarter with Ash providing the highlight of the day whilst running into an open goal and stubbing his toe from 20 meters out straight in front.
In the end Redcliffe smashed Kedron in what was a welcome return to form, and obviously enjoyed the return of some of their stars. We have a month off now with a bye scheduled for our next game. Hopefully enough time for Robbo to recover from the broken ribs that he received 3 matches ago.
