Senior Team Write-Up

With a positive start against Nambour the previous week it was important to consolidate this week against Caboolture. With hot conditions it was clear early that the game would be more physical than it was against Nambour as the local derby always brings out the best in both sides. The midfield functioned well for the day with Captain Brett Somers winning the ruck comfortably for four quarters with good support from Le Mescam.

The on ball brigade took full advantage of this providing purposeful drive out of the middle. The back line repelled Cabooltures forward attack consistently and up the other end we were scoring at a high percentage of forward 50 entries. Another strong team effort was the most pleasing thing to see and with Caboolture fighting to the end it was certainly a tougher challenge than the score board suggested.

With 4 training sessions left before Round 1 against Calamvale we need to finish off the pres season strongly. A few areas have been identified that will be worked on at training but with a strong list and a challenging pre season under our belt things are looking positive so far.

I would like to thanks all who have assisted the senior football club so far in 2012 for your support and dedication. With the complications of flooding etc it has at times been difficult to stay on track. The community support has certainly given our season more purpose and the strong feeling amongst the group is certainly in no small part due to this. The unfortunate collapse of the under 18s due to poor numbers, is clearly the major disappointment of the summer.

These things are at time out of anybody’s control as numbers for this age group is always difficult to muster for a variety of reasons. I want to acknowledge Rob and Corbin Dickfoss for their tireless work in trying to keep the 18s together and the commitment, focus and drive shown by them sets a great example to those around them.

We are hopeful to have a strong crowd at Mcgahey Street on the 24th of Mar to support the Tigers as our season kicks off against Calamvale on our home soil. Look forward to seeing you all there

Regards
