Reserves Report

Heading to Calamvale I was quietly confident with the team we were bringing over, that we would come away with a solid win. In the opening minute we soon realised that we couldn’t just expect the win after the Leopards kicked the opening major inside the first minute of the game. Through Ricky Loughnan we hit back taking a 1 goal lead into the first break.

The second quarter was all the tigers, having a slight breeze in the second quarter we really made the most of it. The injection of Spinks and Hart was just the speed we have been lacking and our usual suspects in Carmen, Ward, and Humphrey were working their opponents over, driving the ball deep and Loughnan doing the rest. After booting 7 goals and holding our underdone opponents scoreless we took a handy lead into half time.

The third quarter is normally one of our worst, but with Calamvale having the breeze we worked as hard as any other quarter. A whistle happy umpire soon changed our mood a little by making a few rash decisions which gave Calamvale the ball in good spots, but once again our backline In Williams, Watson, Royine, Space, Crowley, and Dowdle stood strong. Aided by the run of Spinks, Small and the on ball group meant we out score them again.

Going into the last the goal was to play out a full 4 quarter game, even though we took our foot off the gas slightly I think we managed to do that, winning the last quarter as well. All day Loughnan looked dangerous and continued the trend late in the last finishing the day with 9 goals straight, so a great day for Ricky Bob, but we have to keep in mind a full forward is only as good as his delivery, so all in all it was a good day for us and everyone played their role.

Now we can look forward to good sessions on Tuesday and Thursday which will lead us up to hopefully another 4 quarter performance next Saturday.
