Redcliffe Tigers Being well Represented at School Boy Districts

Back in March we had members of our Under 12s side try out to be selected for their school district AFL sides.

Representing the Redcliffe district school side, Jordon Collicoat, Sam Fedorniak, Ryan O’Shea, Jared Ferguson, Lachlan Waters and Lachlan Itzerott had been training since early March and were selected with other boys from different schools within the Redcliffe district. The boys traveled up to Maroochydore last Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd to compete against other sides and with the hope of being selected in the Sunshine Coast Regional side.

In what has been described at best as atrocious conditions, I am told the boys battled hard and gave their all. As usual that is all that can be asked of you when you are out on the ground so well done. From those games played Ryan has been selected in the Sunshine Coast Regional side. Congratulations Ryan, that is a great achievement. From now until June Ryan will be training up the Coast once a week with the squad and then over the June long weekend he will be competing in the State Carnival which is to be held in Cairns. From everyone at the Tigers we wish you all the best and we will be right behind you with any support we can give.

We also had Tom Waterhouse, Braidyn Field, Connor Bloss , Lachlan Durban and Callum Hill who represented the Pine Rivers district school side. Also training for a number of weeks and making the final side, they played at Zillmere against other sides last week also in what I have been told were ridiculous conditions on the Wednesday but they were much better on Thursday. These boys were playing with the hope of being selected in the Met North Regional side and if successful they would then being heading to Cairns for the State Carnival. Unfortunately none of our boys made it through but their efforts were fantastic. Considering the opportunities they were given, they still showed great ability and competed more than evenly with some of those selected to represent the region at the State Carnival.

Congratulations to all of you and be proud of your achievements because I am very proud of you all.
