Kedron - BYE

Going in as the favourites this week was an unfamiliar position for the Tigers this year. A defiant victory over Kedron last round was now a distant memory. The early signs weren't good either, with our players match day preparation lacking intensity. Once the game started, Logan showed that they came to Rothwell to play footy and weren't going to roll over and give us the 4 points. Lee Chapman and Ben Foley put their heart and soul on the line in the first quarter to keep the Tigers in touch, however Logan took a 4.4 to 3.1 lead into the first change.

The second term was much the same as the first with Logan out playing Redcliffe. Only a few players carried the load with one of our younger players Joel Hart standing up in defence, taking marks that are normally seen in a more experienced player. Half time came and we knew we were lucky still to be in the match. A few wayward kicks from Logan presented opportunities for the Tigers to strike. We needed players to step up and do the hard work required.  Rohan, Chappy, and Jase worked hard, along with Fitzy who had his hands full. Logan's full forward was creating plenty of headache's for Rhodes and the coaching staff. The score at half time was 7.3 to 8.8.

The 3rd term was evenly spread. The Tigers were slowly starting to work together and create some great passages of footy. With Josh Bond and David Gunn creating chances up forward, it was the Tigers who dominated to reduced the Cobras lead to 11 points. Knowing that the last time these teams met, the Tigers managed to score 6 goals in the last quarter, so we knew we were capable of coming back.  We struggled to excute plays all day and Logan still had the players to hurt us. With so much resting on this game, the Tigers had to be reminded of what was at stake. Josh Bond rallied the boys and lead from the front with Gunny. Those two showed that even without Lazy we can still kick big goals.  Once we hit the front the Tigers never gave it back and managed 5 goals 5 behinds to Logan's 2 goals in last quarter to finish 15.14.104 to 13.14.92.

Not our best game of footy, with the first 3 quarters just doing what was required and lacking the level of competiveness we've had in recent weeks. Although its promising to see that when we need to, we dig deep and work hard to get ourselves into a winning postion. We came from behind to win when so many times this year we gave up the lead. Great performance from Goody and Rohan who really stood up all day, Sauce really playing his roll well and our forwards Bondy and Gunny also stood up. It was great to see Gunny kick 7 goals coming back from an injury. A big effort from Chappy, Foley and Ricky Milligan also kept us in the game. I'd also like to congratulate Joel Hart and Matt Palmer for their first senior game, both playing a good games and showing potential to be very good senior players.

Looking forward to this weekend, we have our biggest home game of the year. Strathpine, who have been in winning form and proved to good for us earlier in the year.  With the Tigers starting to gain momentum we aim to turn the tables this match, although we anticipate a hard encounter.
So boys lets get down to Tiger town Tuesday and Thursday and prepare ourselves for a big effort on Saturday.

Special Thanks to Meleigh Jenkins and Lenore Ide for organising the Ladies day, which was a huge success and enjoyed by all that attended.

Grant Heath
Senior Coach.
