Two down, One to go!!

At the start of the season, Coach Paul Albon set 3 goals for his Tiger's. One, To win the Minor Premiership, Tick. Two, To make it into the Grand Final, Tick, Now only one to go, and of course, that's win the Big one, the Holy Grail, the Premiership Trophy.

Last Saturday at Rothwell Park, the Redcliffe "Magic Meat" Tigers destroyed Beenleigh to advanced into the 2008 Division 2 Grand Final.

In the curtain raiser, Robina beat Beenleigh in the Reserves 2nd Semi Final, and things weren't going to get any better for the Buffalo's.

The 1st quarter was all about settling into the game, as there were nerves a plenty running around in the middle. Beenleigh managed to take a slender 3 point lead into the first break from a quarter that only produced 3 goals. However it was clear to see in the 2nd quarter that all the nerves had turned into fire and energy as the game heated up. Redcliffe managed to kick 6 goals to Beenleigh's 4 and held a 10 point lead at the main break.
Words of wisdom from coach, Paul Albon at half time triggered the Tigers onslaught. The game should have been well and truly beyond doubt for Beenleigh at 3 quarter time, as Redcliffe amassed an amazing 19 scoring shots to the Buffalo's solitary one in the 3rd term, however inaccuracy in front of goal could only produce 7 goals, 12 behinds, yet it was enough to go into the last quarter holding a commanding 63 point lead. The final term was a formality with both teams playing out the inevitable as the Tigers advanced into the Grand Final by defeating Beenleigh 16.22.118 to 8.9.57. James Niven finished with 3 goals for the game, and was one of 9 goal kickers for the Tigers. Shane Ward, Andrew Kouvaras and Shaun Dowell were outstanding all day, while Steve Kennedy rucked tirelessly from start to finish. Shaun O'Sullivan, Steve Broadhurst, Steve Jenkins and Tim Rhodes held the backline together, while Josh Bond could be heard calling for the ball many suburbs away....

After the game, Coach Paul Albon said he was wrapped with the way the guys have gone about getting the job done. It was a real team effort out there today, and you couldn't really say one player played better than another. Two down, One to go, was how he finished addressing his charges after the game.

Next week the Tigers will enjoy a weeks break while Beenleigh play Robina to see who takes on the Mighty Tigers in this years Division 2 Grand Final.

The Redcliffe "Bayview Hotel" Reserves ventured down to Robina to take on Ipswich in the Division 2 Reserves 1st Semi Final.
The Tigers got the early jump and held a commanding lead at half time. However as the Magoo's have done in previous weeks, they let their opponents back in the game. Ipswich kicked 4 unanswered goals early in the 3rd to get themselves right back into the match, however the Tigers weren't going to let this one slip. A committed effort from the boys in the last was the call from coach DJ Woodcroft at the final break and his charges didn't disappoint. The Tigers were able to withstand the final quarter charge from Ipswich to save their season, and run out 20 point winners, 13.15 93 to 10.13.73. The Reserve's will play Beenleigh next week @ Yeronga from 11.45am, in the 2008 Reserves Division 2 Preliminary Final.

A win to both the Seniors and Reserves has kept the Dual Premiership Dream still very much alive...
