Our final game for the year saw us travel to Logan to take on the Cobras who were sitting second on the ladder. A number of players were unavailable and when the game commenced we had 19 players, including Azza Spinks who was as sick as ten men, and Richo helping us out from the seniors. Senior ruckman Brett Somers also bolstered our numbers during the second quarter much to Sippa’s horror.

The Tigers battled hard during the first half with Mick Campbell and Mick Bell leading the way and our senior helpers providing the polish up forward. Unfortunately Bobby T succumbed to a hamstring injury during the second quarter for the first time in his career but in typical fashion he stayed on the field until the final siren sounded. At half time our efforts weren’t reflected on the scoreboard, trailing by 16 points but with more scoring shots.

With Azza unable to continue and Richo and Brett required for seniors, the second half saw us take the field with 17 players. Obviously not a recipe for success and with the hot conditions Logan could have been expected to steamroll the Tigers. However the Tiger spirit shone through, everybody gave 100% and Logan could only increase their margin by 1 goal.

With not much petrol left in the Tiger tanks Logan did finish full of running in the final quarter but the boys on the field couldn’t have given any more than they already had and I was certainly proud of their efforts given the circumstances. Hard to single out players when everybody has given it their best shot but Mick Cambell was exceptional all day and Mick Bell played his best game for the year. Luke gave good drive out of the backline, Ash and Ado linked well in the midfield and Mick Parmenter and Shazza gave good service for 4 quarters.

So with the 2010 season over I’d like to thank everyone who pulled on the boots in the ressy’s this year. As we know it was a difficult year highlighted by the fact that the lowest amount of player changes made from one week to the next was 8. Despite this we were in the mix against most of our opposition with the exception of Beenleigh and Robina.

I hope that all players continue at Redcliffe next year so that they can be part of a club that will be marching up the ladder next year. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped out during the year, particularly the senior players who helped out, Robbo for running the boundary week in, week out and last but not least thanks to my manager Lenore who took care of all the things that most of us just take for granted….
