Round 17 saw the ressy's taking the field for their final home game of the year.  Our opposition, Calamvale, had finished over the top of us in our earlier clash this year so we couldn't afford to get complacent this time around.

There was a strong breeze favouring the western end of the ground and the Tigers had to push into it for the first quarter.  Despite this the boys made a good start with the midfield working hard, the forward line presenting well and the backline putting on good defensive pressure.  A 4 point deficit at quarter time was a good position to be in given the conditions.

With the use of the strong breeze in the second quarter the Tigers had a great chance to build a big half time lead.  Unfortunately some of the players got ahead of themselves and didn't pay their opponents enough respect and at half time the game was in the balance with the Tigers trailing by 2 points.

With only one half of home ground football left for 2010, the onus was on the players to take a game that was up for grabs.  They certainly did that and in the best quarter that I have seen them play this year, the Tigers scored 4 goals to zip, taking control of the game.

Finishing off with the breeze at their back and a 4 goal advantage the Tigers really put Calamvale to the sword in the final quarter ramming home another 8 goals, a great effort considering that in most games we have battled to kick 8 goals in an entire game.

Congratulations to the boys for putting together a great team effort and producing their best result for the year.  Steve Kennedy was sublime in the ruck, Ash and Dowelly provided super delivery and finishing skills, Shazza marked everything that came his way, Timmy and Watto tackled and harassed all day and there was some nice finishing from Mick P, Toby and Christian.  Also a special mention to Curly for providing some entertaining goal umpiring throughout the course of the day!
