Today the U12's boys were once again on the road, this time to Calamvale to play Calamvale in our second game of the season.  Again a big thankyou to the parents for having all the boys ready to play and on time.

During the week our training had been about using the football well when we had possesion and on goal kicking, as our last game we missed a few shots on goal and the boys all realise that being accurate in front of goal when the time comes is an important skill in the game.

Just as we did last week, the team played with fantastic endeavour and commitment and through the first three quarters and although we had some lapses in concentration at times, we kept ourselves in the game through accurate kicking for goal and showing great movement of the ball when we had possesion.

The last quarter started pretty well even, and at three quarter time we spoke again about being the fitter side and able to outrun our opposition and the boys certainly showed both skill and courage in the last quarter by, first, outplaying the opposition in the first half of the quarter and making the most of there time with the ball by applying scoreboard pressure and then in the second half of the quarter holding the opposition and stopping them
from scoring goals.

Again it is hard to name best players from such an even team effort and it is a credit to all the boys that they continue to believe in themselves and there abilities and that they know they are one of the fittest sides in the u 12's.

Our ability to keep running and running and never letting the opposition get on top of us has everyone associated with the u 12's, coaching staff , team manger and parents alike very proud of the boys.

Keep the Tiger spirit boys.

Grading Game 2

Redcliffe 8.5.53  defeated by Wilston Grange 11.3.69

In complete contrast from last week unfortunately the 14's didn't turn up to play in the right frame of mind. Our first half was ordinary when many of our players just followed their opponent and responded to mistakes the Grange team were making. This made it very hard for the handful that were doing their very best to keep us within reach hoping that at some stage we would find our way and persistence would give us an opportunity.

It was an eye opener that clearly showed that we can be as poor a team at times and deserving of a div 4 spot, then when we are working to our potential, we show that we are a more than capable div 2 team. It may not have helped being at the Gabba the night before. So we will work hard this week on the areas that let us down.

A couple of mentions must go to our two key forwards in Liam and Trent, who's mobility and ability gave us options to go to. After half time the surprise move of Josh Martin to CHF and Jackson Dickfos to FF proved that mobility and footy smarts can at times more than cover for height, with Jackson kicking 4 goals in the second half and Josh proving a great moving target. Peter Furness did a great job on ball for the majority of the day and Skippy's run from half back was exciting as always as was the work rate of co vice captain Jake Villot.

Unfortunately in the last minutes of the game our captain, Trent, sustained a broken collar bone and will miss approximately 4 - 5 weeks. Fortunate for Trent it was a clean break in a position that should enable a quicker recovery. Fingers crossed that is the case.
