Seniors Report

With a busy week at Tiger Town and a great week on the track including a workout with Rob Dickfos, we travelled to Logan full of confidence.

We started with dead accuracy kicking 5 goals straight to a wasteful 1 goal 7 to Logan. Second quarter was evenly shared as Logan began to find their feet not before we hit back with a couple of late goals to take a 15 point lead in the main break.

As so many times before, our 3rd quarter was some of the worst football we have played. As Logan began to pile on the goals, heads went down, the running  stopped, loose checking and fundamental skill errors crept into our game with Logan kicking 5 goals to Redcliffe's 2 behinds.

Going into the last quarter 23 points down we all knew that allot of hard work had to be done. Logan got the jump and kicked the first 2 for the quarter before a Tiger's comeback was started with 12 min to go. Redcliffe started to get first use again with our forward line getting good delivery and guys putting their body's on the line, suddenly we were with in reach. After a couple of missed chances with only minutes left on the clock, we got the goal that put us within one straight kick. With great work from our on ballers, we had a chance but with Logan holding on with everything they had the siren sounded just as we had the ball on the half forward line.

We showed allot of resolve to come back from 6 goals down but for the 3rd time in 4 games we lead at half time only to loose in a close one.  We must learn to play 4 quarters of footy and stop relying on to few to win the match. We showed glimpse of how we can play but we're not doing it for long enough. Lack of concentration is a big factor in letting teams back into matches.

With an outstanding game, Fuzz showed what it means to play senior footy, always putting his head over the ball and never stopping. Jason Goodenough worked hard in the ruck and looked very dangerous pushing forward. Brett Kern kicking 4 goals was a great target all day and our two forwards in Clint Frusher and David Gunn are improving every week. Looking to next week we take on Strathpine in the local Derby. With no wins from 4 games this game doesn't get any bigger. With an injury list that almost has more people out than available, we need all hands on deck. So if you haven't been down at training, make sure you are this Tuesday and Thursday.
