AFL and Auskick in the Middle East

Glenn & Debbie Platt, Coach and Team Manager of last years Redcliffe Tigers under 9’s now live in Dubai and have become heavily involved in the AFL/Auskick over there. With plenty of Aussies in Dubai, a group of parents have taken up the initiative and started a well coordinated Auskick in the Middle East. How fantastic to know that some Redcliffe Tigers parents have become so involved in the establishment of our great game in the Middle East.

Glenn's coaching the U13's, which Jarod is playing in. Ages range from 9 - 12. Round 1 played, and Jarod was BOG. We get to play at the start of the Senior games each month.
We have started with 70 kids and have 2 U8's with 20 in each team and 2 U13's with 15 in each. Have only been going for 4 weeks and the interest is growing. Have some great sponsors and therefore uniforms as you can see from the pictures.  The Teams are Aussie Themed; the Devils (Taz), The Sharks, The Taipans & The Crocs.
The AFL Website mentions the league commencement and Round 1 scores. We all had a great day and I think AFL is here to stay with Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt interested in fielding teams in the League for next year. Currently we have 3 teams from Dubai, 1 from Abu Dhabi, 1 from Oman & 1 from Qatar.
