Well the eagerly anticipated match started with Robina not really expecting what we had install for them as our boys from the very first bounce came out hungry and fierce and our attack at the footy was probably the best I have seen it all year. Lead by the on ball group Grandpa stump, Scotty Ward and Bicko we were able to match them at everything they did, a massive improvement on the last time we met.
The second quarter got better for us with the back line again standing tall and accountable repelling most forward advances Robina threw at them. For the second week in a row our half back line with Fuzz Chrisso and Bluey inflicting as much damage as they could. Meanwhile our forwards were again on top especially with one on one contests. This week our full forward Taz really came into his own and was on his way to bag a 5 goal haul but it was also the work of our other to key targets Appsy and Ando taking a lot of contested grabs that set us up with great service into our forward line. Right across the ground though it was our pressure and constant attack at the footy that took us to the main break with a 4 point lead.
The third quarter was again our let down with our mental alertness slipping late in the quarter with them kicking 4 reasonably quick goals. To the boys credit they did stem the flow and got back to the task at hand bumping up the pressure to finish the quarter.
The last started exactly the same way as the game began with our boys full of run and fight. It was very pleasing to see as the coach that the team as a whole were still united and focused on our goal, however even though we did out score them in the this quarter the 4 goal margin proved to much to come back from.
Even though we did not win it is clear to our entire playing group that Robina is very beatable however we are to face off this week against Beenleigh who are not a team to take lightly and probably want the GF spot as much as we do. Having said this we need to be on the top of our game to get there ourselves and will greatly appreciate any and all support we get from our seniors and supporters alike. GO THE TIGERS.
