2019 GKS LAW U14s Black Premiers
Premierships are won in February, not September. This is true for the Redcliffe Tigers GKS Law Under 14 team. The Tigers were able to field 2 Under 14 teams this season across separate divisions commencing preseason training early. Many players were long term Tigers and several were new to not only the club, but new to Australian Rules Football.
With a modern training program Redcliffe Black set about winning early games, racing to the top of the ladder, not suffering their first loss until Round 10 at the hands of Wynnum. Some more tough wins followed until it was once again the Wynnum Vikings bringing the Tigers' winning run to a holt in the final home and away game of the year.
The two sides next met in the second Semi-final where Redcliffe ran out convincing 10 goal winners earning a spot in the Grand Final. Wynnum after accounting for Moreton Bay a week later also progressed to the Grand Final seeing the two rivals square off for a fifth time, at 2 wins each.
In a blustery contest at Yeronga the Tigers played a desperate and intelligent brand of football, leading the match from start to finish, winning by 15 points supported by a massive Redcliffe crowd.
Coach Shane Ward was extremely proud of his team's season stating "the effort these young men, and the entire playing group have put in over many seasons, was deservedly rewarded, hopefully with more success to come".
Final Scores: Redcliffe 3.8.26 def Wynnum 1.5.11
Best Players: Aaron Chesterman (B.O.G), Kyle Pullar, Zach Melbourne, Ben Miller, Kye Sinclair, Cohan Ward, Ben Parker
