This foundation has touched our hearts hence wanting to have a charity event. My father (Ron Anderson) was a strong independent proud man who within 12 months from being diagnosed with MND had been turned into a frail vegetative state. He couldn’t walk, talk, eat etc. We were very fortunate the MND association allowed Ron to spend his final weeks at home rather than in a hospital by supplying/lending us FREE OF CHARGE oxygen machines which he used 24/7, a hospital bed to help him sit up and a mobile lifting crane to help move his dead weighted body from the bedroom to lounge. While this disease took away all his pride and dignity, this equipment allowed him to feel a bit human.
Mel and I are holding this event on the 24th July on the Redcliffe Peninsula to help raise money to purchase more of this equipment so that other families suffering from this torturous disease may be able to help their loved ones pass with some dignity.
MND is a horrific neurological disorder which has no cure and can affect anyone at any time. It is a progressive loss of the use of their limbs, their ability to speak, to swallow and to breathe whilst their senses and mind remain intact. The effects of the disease are rapid debilitating and sadly terminal.
